The catch is that it only works if the business, the province, and your own numbers all line up with one specific program's rules at once. A great business in the wrong province, or the right province but a sector that's excluded, or a purchase price too small to clear a program's investment floor, can quietly take an immigration pathway off the table — often discovered only after months of due diligence. How the Marketplace Works

- Every listing shows the business's location, sector, and asking price alongside the immigration route(s) it currently matches
- Route tags come from each province's published program criteria — net worth, investment amount, ownership stake, language level, and (where it applies) location outside a major metro area
- Tags are reviewed by a licensed RCIC before publication — this is a curated feed, not an unmoderated listings scrape

The Routes We Tag Listings Against
As of August 2026, seven Canadian business and investor immigration routes are active, and every listing on the marketplace is checked against all of them:
- BC PNP Entrepreneur — Base: $600,000 net worth, $200,000 investment, anywhere in BC
- BC PNP Entrepreneur — Regional: $300,000 net worth, $100,000 investment, outside Metro Vancouver — roughly half the bar of the Base stream
- Manitoba MPNP — Business Investor (Entrepreneur Pathway): $500,000 net worth, $150,000–$250,000 investment depending on region, CLB 5, at least ⅓ ownership
- New Brunswick Business Immigration Stream: $500,000 net worth, $150,000 investment, CLB 4, ownership of at least 51%, age 19–59
- Nova Scotia Nominee Program — Entrepreneur: $100,000–$150,000 investment depending on location, CLB 5, no published net-worth minimum — invitation-only, so a tag here means "eligible to apply," not "guaranteed a spot"
- Alberta AAIP — Rural Entrepreneur: $300,000 net worth, $100,000 investment, CLB 4, ownership of at least 51%, business located outside the Calgary/Edmonton metro areas
- C11 Owner-Operator work permit (federal): no fixed financial minimum — built around taking a controlling interest in an existing business plus a credible operating plan; leads to permanent residence later, as a separate step through Express Entry or a PNP, not automatically
What's Deliberately NOT on the List
Just as important as what the marketplace tags is what it will never tag a listing with.
The federal Start-Up Visa and the federal Self-Employed Persons Program have both been closed to new applications since January 1, 2026. Saskatchewan's SINP Entrepreneur stream closed permanently in March 2025, PEI's Business Impact category is not currently issuing invitations, and Ontario's OINP Entrepreneur Stream has been closed since November 2024. If a listing anywhere else claims to qualify a buyer for one of these, that claim is out of date.
This matters because business-for-sale listings, in general, get shared and reshared across brokers and marketplaces for months or years after the immigration program behind them has closed. A listing that still advertises "qualifies for the Start-Up Visa" is either stale or wrong. Every tag on our marketplace is checked against the currently active route list, not whatever was true when the listing first went up.
Ontario, and Everywhere Else the Provincial Routes Don't Reach
Ontario has no active provincial entrepreneur stream for new applicants right now — the OINP Entrepreneur Stream has been closed since November 2024. Ontario opportunities on our marketplace, and businesses in any province without a matching provincial program, are tagged for the federal C11 Owner-Operator work permit instead: a route with no fixed capital minimum, built on taking a controlling stake in an existing business and running it under a credible operating plan. It doesn't hand you permanent residence directly — the work permit is a bridge, and PR comes later through Express Entry or a provincial nomination once you have Canadian work experience under your belt — but it is currently the only door open in provinces without their own entrepreneur stream.
