About the plan

How the plan works

Express Entry is IRCC’s system for managing permanent-residence applications under the Federal Skilled Worker, Canadian Experience Class and Federal Skilled Trades programs. You first qualify for one of the programs, then enter a pool where candidates are ranked by their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score, and are invited to apply when their score meets a draw’s cutoff. This plan follows that sequence step by step, from Discover to PR.

01 · Discover

Name your job in Canada’s system, count the experience that counts, and turn your language test into CLB levels.

02 · Qualify

Check which Express Entry program you can enter, then see your CRS score against recent draws.

03 · Prepare

Know the funds you must show, what the government fees add up to, and how long IRCC is currently taking.

04 · Pool

Build your Express Entry profile and submit it to the pool, where it’s ranked by CRS score until a draw invites you.

05 · ITA

IRCC has invited you to apply — the threshold between assessing your options and building the application itself.

06 · Application

Build your permanent residence application and check it against IRCC’s own checklist before you submit.

07 · PR

Your application is approved, and you become a permanent resident of Canada.
