Canada Visitor Visa & Super Visa
Visit Canada for tourism, business, or to spend time with family. The Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) allows stays of up to 6 months. The Super Visa allows parents and grandparents to stay for up to 5 years per visit.
Who Is This For?
- TRV: You are a citizen of a country that requires a visa to enter Canada
- TRV: You have strong ties to your home country (employment, family, property)
- TRV: You can demonstrate sufficient funds for your stay in Canada
- TRV: You have no criminal record and are in good health
- Super Visa: Your child or grandchild is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
- Super Visa: Your child/grandchild meets minimum income requirements and provides a letter of invitation
- Super Visa: You have valid Canadian medical insurance coverage for at least 1 year (minimum $100,000)
How It Works
- 1
Determine visa type (TRV or Super Visa)
If you are a parent or grandparent of a Canadian PR or citizen, the Super Visa may allow a much longer stay. We help you decide which is best.
- 2
Gather your documents
TRV: passport, financial evidence, ties to home country, travel itinerary. Super Visa: letter of invitation, child's income proof, and medical insurance.
- 3
Complete biometrics (if required)
Most applicants need to provide biometrics (fingerprints and photo) at a Visa Application Centre (VAC).
- 4
Submit your application online
Apply through the IRCC online portal. Processing times vary significantly by nationality.
- 5
Respond to any requests from IRCC
IRCC may request additional documents or schedule an interview. Respond promptly and accurately.
- 6
Receive your visa and travel to Canada
Your TRV or Super Visa is stamped in your passport. Confirm your admissibility at the port of entry.

Frequently Asked Questions
Common refusal reasons include insufficient proof of ties to the home country, inadequate financial documentation, a previous immigration violation or refusal, incomplete application, or an officer's assessment that the applicant is unlikely to leave Canada before their authorized stay expires. ITC iLand reviews your application for all known risk factors.
The standard authorized stay is 6 months from the date of entry, as decided by the border officer. The visa itself (TRV) may be valid for up to 10 years (multiple entry), but each entry allows a maximum stay determined at the port of entry.
The Super Visa is a special multi-entry visa for parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens or PRs. It allows stays of up to 5 years per visit (not 6 months) and is valid for 10 years. You must have a letter of invitation from your child or grandchild who meets the minimum income requirement, and you must purchase at least $100,000 in Canadian medical insurance.
Yes. You can apply to extend your visitor record (Status) from inside Canada before your authorized stay expires. If approved, you can remain in Canada for the extended period. You must apply before the expiry date on your status document.
A previous refusal does not permanently bar you from applying again, but it is noted in your immigration history. A new application should address the reasons for the prior refusal with new or stronger evidence. ITC iLand reviews refusal letters and advises on the best strategy for a successful re-application.
