Newfoundland and Labrador issued 50 invitations on Nov 2 and 25 on Nov 4, 2026. What the smaller rounds and the 30-day submission window mean.

Newfoundland and Labrador's Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism (OIM) issued 50 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) on November 2, 2026, all under the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP), and 25 more on November 4 (24 NLPNP and 1 Atlantic Immigration Program, AIP), according to the province's ITA updates page. These are routine selection rounds, not a rule change. In short: Newfoundland and Labrador has invited 3,232 candidates through 22 rounds in 2026 so far, but its rounds have become smaller since late October, and anyone invited now has 30 days to submit a complete application.

The latest rounds

The province publishes the date, the number of invitations and the program split for each round. It does not publish a minimum score, because selection is based on its prioritization criteria rather than a points cut-off.

What the 2026 numbers show

Adding up the province's own table gives the following picture. These totals are our arithmetic from the published rounds, not a figure the province has announced.

  • 2026 to date (22 rounds, March 6 to November 4): 3,232 invitations, 2,824 NLPNP and 408 AIP.
  • Same period in 2025 (12 rounds, April 3 to October 22): 3,046 invitations, 2,253 NLPNP and 793 AIP.
  • Monthly pace in 2026: 470 in August, 236 in September, 462 in October and 75 in the first four days of November.
  • AIP share: AIP invitations in 2026 are roughly half of the same period last year, while NLPNP invitations are higher. The province has not given a reason, so we do not speculate on one.

Who these rounds are for

Newfoundland and Labrador uses an Expression of Interest (EOI) model, launched in February 2025, for all its economic immigration applications. Candidates submit an EOI through the province's Immigration Accelerator portal, and OIM invites selected candidates to apply to the NLPNP or, through their designated employer, the AIP. The province's FAQs say an EOI without a job or job offer from an employer in the province will not be considered for an invitation.

  • Health and health-related occupations continue to receive strong priority.
  • Jobs in rural and regional communities, and sales and service roles there when employers struggle to recruit, may be prioritized. Similar roles in the St. John's area may get lower priority when program use is already high.
  • Occupations under-represented in the province (business and finance, science and research, trades and transport) may be prioritized.
  • Graduates of Newfoundland and Labrador institutions, candidates with long-term ties to the province, and candidates who support Francophone communities may be prioritized.

What it does not change

Meeting one or more of these criteria does not mean you will be invited. The province says its criteria are non-exhaustive and may change during the year as labour market needs and its annual allocation change. EOIs that are not selected stay in the pool and expire automatically after 12 months.

If you are invited: the 30-day window

The province's EOI overview says that, as the year ends, the submission period after an invitation has been temporarily reduced to 30 days, and it encourages invited candidates to submit a complete application as soon as possible. Practical steps:

  • Prepare your documents before you are invited, especially identity, education and language results, and your employer's supporting documents.
  • If you are in the Atlantic Immigration Program, confirm with your designated employer who files which part, since the employer submits the AIP application on your behalf.
  • If your EOI is close to its 12-month expiry, note the date so you can submit a new one if needed.
  • Compare other routes too. Our Atlantic Immigration Program page explains how the AIP works, and the draw tracker shows recent federal and provincial rounds.

A note on timing and outcomes

An invitation is not a nomination, and a provincial nomination is not permanent residence: each later stage is assessed separately, and processing times are estimates only. No program can promise an outcome. Round sizes and dates come from the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador's ITA updates page, checked on November 7, 2026.
