UK Student Visa
Study full-time at a UK university, college, or school. Home to Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial, LSE, and hundreds more — the UK offers globally recognized qualifications and a Graduate Route visa after completion that allows 2 years of open work.
Who Is This For?
- Accepted at a UK institution with UKVI Student Sponsor status (CAS — Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies — required)
- Aged 16 or above (under 18 may need additional boarding school arrangements)

- Sufficient funds: GBP £1,334/month for up to 9 months in London (GBP £1,023 outside London)
- Clean immigration history — no significant prior visa refusals or overstays
- Genuine intention to study and leave the UK upon course completion (unless switching to Graduate Route)
How It Works
- 1
University Application & CAS
Apply to your chosen UK institution. Once accepted, the university issues a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) — the unique reference number required for your visa application.
- 2
English Language Test
Take an approved SELT (Secure English Language Test): IELTS for UKVI, TOEFL iBT, or Pearson PTE Academic UKVI. Note: standard IELTS Academic is not accepted — ensure you book the UKVI-specific version.
- 3
Online Visa Application
Apply through the UKVI online portal. Upload your CAS number, passport, financial evidence, English test certificate, and other required documents.
- 4
Biometric Appointment
Book and attend a biometric appointment at a UKVI Visa Application Centre in your home country.
- 5
Processing & Decision
Standard processing: 3 weeks. Priority: 5 business days. Super priority (select locations): 24 hours. Decision notified by email.
- 6
Arrive in UK & Study
Enter the UK up to 1 month before your course starts (for courses over 12 months). Register with police if required (mandatory for some nationalities).
- 7
Graduate Route Visa
After completing a bachelor's or master's degree, apply for the Graduate Route visa — 2 years of open work rights (3 years for PhD graduates) with no employer sponsorship required.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Graduate Route allows students who complete a UK degree to remain in the UK for 2 years (3 years for PhDs) to work or build a business at any skill level — with no employer sponsorship required. It is an excellent bridge to the Skilled Worker Visa.
You must show funds covering your first year's tuition (per your CAS) plus living costs: GBP £1,334/month for up to 9 months in London (GBP £12,006 total), or GBP £1,023/month outside London. Funds must be held in your account for at least 28 consecutive days before you apply.
Full-time university students can work up to 20 hours per week during term time and full-time during official vacation periods. Further education college students are typically limited to 10 hours per week.
IELTS for UKVI (Academic), TOEFL iBT, and Pearson PTE Academic UKVI are all accepted. Standard IELTS Academic (non-UKVI version) is NOT accepted — specifically book the UKVI-designated version.
Postgraduate students studying at a licensed UKVI sponsor can bring dependants (spouse and children) in most cases. Students on most undergraduate courses generally cannot bring dependants.
